Letters – Urgent!
If you are concerned about the proposed wind turbines in Waratah Bay and along the coasts of Wilson’s Promontory, Venus Bay, Inverloch and Philip Island, it is urgent that you write to Chris Bowen this week to express your concern as he will make a decision about the zones to very soon.
· We encourage you to send a paper letter (snail mail) and also to send letters to other politicians i.e. the prime minister, the premier and your local members.
· Please encourage others to write letters to Chris Bowen, as a matter of urgency, and of course to other politicians.
· Below are some sample letters that people have sent.
· Letters don’t need to be sophisticated or technical, but you do need to register your concern (“One letter is worth a thousand opinions”)
· Make sure you include your signature, name, address and date
· Print multiple copies of you letters and ask your friends who are upset about this to sign them, and post them yourself.

Dear Minister,
Whilst I am very much in favour of renewable energy, I am so upset to hear there are plans to put large offshore turbines close to the coast at Wilson’s Promontory, Waratah Bay and along the coast to Phillip Island, home of the penguins.
Wilson’s Promontory is a National Park of outstanding and pristine beauty, treasured by millions of Australians. They will be devastated after travelling to the southernmost tip of the mainland of Australia, expecting wilderness and being confronted hundreds of enormous turbines.
I am also concerned that the community consultation occurred with little publicity and therefore so many people were unable to lodge their objections.
Furthermore, such inappropriate location of turbines causes many to be resentful of renewable energy, when it is so desperately needed.
Please ensure that this special coastline and National Park is preserved for future generations.
Kind regards

Dear Minister,
Please don’t put wind turbines along the coast of the Wilson’s Promontory National Park or in Waratah Bay. It is my favourite holiday spot in Victoria. As it is mountainous and we climb over hills, the towers will be so much more obvious and obstruct the amazing views and sense of wilderness.
Yours sincerely

Dear Prime Minister,
I am very concerned about plans to put large offshore turbines close to the coast at Wilson’s Promontory, Waratah Bay and along the coast to Phillip Island, it will destroy the enjoyment of these special places to be confronted with enormous wind turbines just a few kilometres offshore.
Wilson’s Promontory National Park is a truly beautiful place and loved by millions of Australians. So many people have a long history of association with ‘the Prom’ and will be so upset to see their precious place seriously affected by the placement of offshore wind turbines.
I did not know that there was a community consultation, despite being aware of many community concerns, so I wish to register my concerns directly with you as I am told it is a federal issue.
Please consider how enormously popular these coastal areas are, especially amongst Victorians.
Kind regards
